Level 1 intensive at iO West - None
Beginning February 6th, iO West is offering a course allowing students to complete their level one training is just two weeks.
Great for actors looking to add a new line to their resume or needing something to their agents. Also, since so many commercial agents like for their clients to have improv experience, it's a wonderful way to begin a cover letter if you're looking for representation.
If you've completing training at another school and you don't want to lose momentum, you can take this two week intensive, with classes meeting Monday through Thursday then Monday to Wednesday from 11:30am to 3pm, then be able to register for level two the next week.
And it's fun! Take advantage of the iO West student ID and see classes for free during the session.

Zombies and Improv - None
Considering it's Halloween weekend, who better to hear improv advice from than the mouth of one of America's few living humans?
So, Steven Yeun might be lucky enough to not actually have to fight for his survival unlike the character he portrays in AMC's The Walking Dead, but he does have some great advice for improvisers in this week's iO West blog.

Character Workshop with Dave Hill - None
Registration is now available for a three week course taught by Dave Hill at iO West.
In this intensive, you'll learn techniques that will allow you to create fun and interesting characters that have room to grow, as opposed to becoming flat and trite in a scene. And isn't improv so much more fun that way?
So not only will one of iO's most experienced and supportive teachers give you the tools to develop characters that are fun to watch and play with, he'll also work with you on how to allow them growth through out scenes.
The classes finish up on the playground of long form where your new character savvy mind will have room to stretch it's legs.
So sign up now, because space is limited.
Is improv right for you? (Los Angeles specific) - None
Improv in the last few years has become quite the buzz word. At commercials auditions, CD's always seem to ask, "Do you have any improv training?" You watch interviews with actors and they reference specific scenes from films, revealing it to be improvised. "Really? I'd never have known," you think.
And then, if you decide you do want to give improv classes a shot, what school is right for you?
A great way to tell is to go see shows at the schools and at iO West, we recommend you watch a Harold or two.
The Harold is iO's signature form. It's long form improv heavily relying on characters and relationships. This is the form that we base all of our curriculum on through out our seven level program, so this is a really great way to test before you try the technique.
Every Tuesday and Wednesday night on the mainstage there are teams performing every half hour in hour blocks. Again, this is a great way to see if iO and the Harold are right for you. We're on Hollywood and shows always start at 8pm and last til midnight.
